Yellow Wood Counseling takes its namesake from the classic poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. This poem, and the message it embodies, is an inspiration for us. Our aim is to provide a unique counseling experience, divergent from the mechanical nature of many service providers and help our clients have an experience that “makes all the difference.”
Yellow Wood Counseling was started in late 2018, as a small, independent private practice formed by Andrew Skaggs LPCC. Andrew is Licensed by the state of Kentucky as a professional clinical counselor and is also a nationally certified counselor. Andrew has a strong clinical background from his years working at an inpatient facility where he was exposed numerous clients with a broad array of mental health struggles. Due to this experience he is often more able to work with difficult or complicated diagnoses or issues that many other therapists shy away from. Currently he specializes in working with dissociative disorders, though he sees people with a wide range of struggles including everything from addiction, to mood disorders, to people who just aren’t happy with where they are in life or their relationships.
